Spotlight Server

A base set of capabilities that allow users to rapidly create zone logs for their assets, and gain insights from real-time data on asset movement and activities.

The central component of Spotlight technology is the Spotlight Server (illustrated below) that users can access via a web-portal based on Microsoft Silverlight technology.

Asset Catalog

An unlimited number of asset types can be defined – the properties for each asset type can be customized and reports generated
Asset categories may also be defined and associated with asset types to organize and simplify navigation of the Asset Catalog
Each asset can be associated with one or more RFID and/or barcode tags and an unlimited number of assets may be created and tracked by the system
The current zone and a time-stamped an activity log are maintained for each asset based on asset tag observation events surfaced by the reader network.

Zones

An unlimited number of Zones may be defined – each zone identifies a physical area or location (e.g., a building, a room, an area in a factory floor, load / unload areas in a warehouse, a rack at a IT data-center) where assets are to be tracked
Zones may be hierarchically organized to simplify navigation
Zones may be specified in terms of:
1. One or more fixed location tags (barcode or RFID)
2. One or more fixed readers
3. A fixed reader portal with direction sensing capability.
4. X, Y, Z coordinates used with a real time location system.

RFID Device Management & Tag Readability / Directionality Testing

An unlimited number of RFID devices and read points (antenna) can be configured
Any device for which there exists a Microsoft BizTalk RFID provider is easily supported
These include HF, UHF, active WiFi, active UWB and technologies from a wide range of vendors that are available now and will be available in the future
The settings of each device can be configured and their operational status can be monitored and updated via the Spotlight portal
Experiments to perform tag readability and directionality studies can be performed with various device profiles, and results examined in the portal itself.

Alerts

Subscription based email notifications for business and system events of interest.
Configurable with client-specific events and business logic.
Monitoring of Zone and Asset movements.

Reports

Create, Modify, and Edit ‘Self-service’ Reports and KPI’s within the Spotlight portal.
View and Execute Reports on data observed in real-time.
Export data to MS Excel, PDF and other formats for further analysis.

Mobile Device Support

Any Windows, Windows CE, or Windows Mobile devices can be easily integrated into the Spotlight system – examples range from the traditional hand-held reader, to inventory carts, tablets and kiosks.
Components of the Spotlight software installed on these mobile devices assist with on-ground operations such as asset identification, stock-take, audit, and search.

1. Tag/Asset commission and decommission
2. Zone inventory
3. Zone Audit
4. Display asset information
5. Find assets.
