The S3Edge RTVS™ software appliance
The RTVS™ ‘On-Premise’ solution platform is the central workflow controller that is responsible for the design and deployment of the physical world workflows in addition to facilitating remote management of RFID and sensor devices.
With the flexibility to be delivered in a software appliance form factor (pre-configured software system) the ‘On-Premise’ offering has the following benefits:
- Leverage of BizTalk RFID and BizTalk server capabilities to the fullest
- Very stable device connection layer, for 5-100 reader deployments
- Very scalable event processing architecture: 1000s of eps
- Remotely deployment and management
- Cookie-cutter appliance model with built in services for rapid deployment
In addition to the above, the ‘On-Premise’ layer is also responsible for:
- Interaction and management of fixed RFID
- Orchestrating actions in the form of notifications to mobile device, HD displays, or attached devices (ex: light stacks) based on tag processing
- Leveraging the integration capabilities of BizTalk server for LoBi and back-end system integration where required
The appliance can be managed remotely via a web-interface or can also be a true black-box in ‘device to cloud’ scenarios providing an operational data store at the edge with reliable event processing capabilities in the case of a network failure between device and cloud.
